Cassidy's Story

A shrill cry sounds from a Bird-Of-Paradise, piercing an eerily quite, phenomenally pristine jungle. A jungle, that 75 years previously, had seen some of the bloodiest warfare in World War 11.
Trekking the Kokoda Trail In Papua New Guinea for 8 days, allowed me to briefly understand the sacrifice our courageous Australian soldiers endured. I shared similarities of the soldiers from 75 years earlier; blood, sweat and tears were shed in the same thick mud and raucous laughter often helped ease the momentaneous pain. Yet it was the differences that really solidified my genuine respect and patriotic attitude for the Australian diggers. Our Australian diggers fought for freedom, so that I, and many others, could live and travel with freedom.
