Lisa's Story

I decided to walk the Kokoda Track on 1/11 to 11/11/2012 (Kokoda to Owers Corner) with Charlie Lynn and Adventure Kokoda Team for the 70th Anniversary Trek to fulfil and accomplish a personal dream. I went on my own with the blessing of my husband and sons’. I met an extraordinary platoon of people that encouraged, motivated and supported me to face the daily challenges; one breath and one foot in front of the other. The four pillars “Courage, Endurance, Mateship & Sacrifice” at Isurava Memorial are testament to the journey.I was privileged to have been there to witness the 70th Anniversary for our War Veterans and heroes. I also attended Bomana Cemetery on Remembrance Day. This experience changed my life. I have been blessed to have had the opportunity to have walked in the “Footsteps of the Brave”, seen and touched the beauty of the Papuan jungles, experienced the hospitality, culture and joyfulness of the Papuan People. I have made friendships & have great memories; one is the heart pumping descent from Tovovo Gap (2070m) to Kagi down to Efogi Creek(1030m). I was left shaken, overwhelmed but proud and inspired……DOKOKODA- for whatever reason, it is an all inspiring life changing challenge and experience.
